If Lisbon had a beating heart, it would be Alfama. This is the city’s oldest district, and it has a special kind of magic. The maze of narrow cobblestone streets, colorful façades, and laundry fluttering in the breeze all tell a story – and it’s a perfect setting for telling your story, too.

Why I love it for engagement photos:
Alfama feels like stepping into a different time. There’s a soft, nostalgic energy that brings out the romantic side of people. I often shoot here in the mornings, when the city is still asleep and we can hop around having the streets just for ourselves.

Any day in the mornings. As earlier the better, but until the middle of the morning, we can still manage the crowds really well.

Belém is home to some of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks, including the Torre de Belém and Jerónimos Monastery. It’s where history meets the sea, and it’s absolutely stunning for a more polished, romantic engagement shoot.

The classical architecture of the Tower, located right by the water, offers wide-open views and calming energy. It works well both during sunrise and sunset-with a little bit more people around, but with a gorgeous golden hour light.

• Casual strolls by the water, with the Ponte 25 de Abril in the distance

Sunset is magical here, especially in spring and early autumn. Early mornings work well too if you want to avoid tourists.

Ready for something a little more adventurous? Just 40 minutes outside Lisbon, the coast near Sintra offers some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Portugal. With dramatic cliffs, foamy waves, and golden sands, these beaches feel straight out of a romantic film.

There’s nothing quite like the combination of love and nature. The beaches around Sintra, such as Praia da Ursa, Praia Grande, or Praia do Guincho, are not only visually stunning, but they also allow couples to move freely, laugh, and connect without distraction. The wind in your hair, your footprints in the sand… It’s all incredibly cinematic.
